The TSTC Abilene Capital Construction Assistance Project (CCAP) is a venture undertaken by the Texas State Technical College in Abilene to bridge the existing "skills gap" by preparing students to be part of the middle-skills workforce, which constitutes over 50% of the labor market. The initiative involves the construction of a new 48,139 square foot facility named the Industrial Technology Center (ITC2) on TSTC's east Abilene campus, designed by Parkhill in 2022. The facility will house training programs in Diesel Technology, Plumbing Maintenance, HVAC, and Electrical Line Worker, aiming to equip students with hands-on skills necessary for immediate workforce entry upon graduation. These developments are aligned with TSTC's mission of fostering community building by developing innovative learning environments and addressing the specific vocational needs of the region, ultimately benefiting the local communities through enhanced employment opportunities and technical education adaptations to the changing landscape.
