Midlothian ISD Jean Coleman Elementary School

Funded through the 2016 bond program, Imperial managed construction of the 97,874-square-foot Jean Coleman Elementary School, reflecting the district’s forward-thinking commitment to education. Designed to serve up to 750 Pre-K through 5th-grade students, the campus included a 7,006-square-foot tornado shelter to ensure student safety during extreme weather. The facility featured three large classroom wings connected by a central library with a tiered wood reading hill, fostering a love of reading and collaboration. Classrooms were equipped with folding glass walls that opened to shared learning spaces, while high ceilings and clerestory windows brought in natural light. The design also included a multifunctional cafeteria/performance space that opened to an outdoor platform, and an interactive learning courtyard that blended education with nature—redefining traditional learning environments.
